Moore Acclaimed as Conservative Candidate
PORT COQUITLAM
-
Member of Parliament James Moore, Parliamentary Secretary for Public
Works, the Pacific
Gateway, and the 2010 Olympics, has been acclaimed as the
Conservative candidate in his riding of Port Moody-Westwood-Port
Coquitlam for the next election.
"The last
election was less than seven months ago, but with confidence votes
coming this fall in Parliament and the often challenging nature of a
minority government, we are making sure we will be well prepared for
an election whenever it may be called," says Moore.
The Conservative
Party recently released riding associations across Canada to
nominate their candidates for the next election. Moore was
unopposed for the nomination and will represent the Conservative
Party in Port Moody-Westwood-Port Coquitlam in the next campaign.
Sperril Chambers,
President of the Port Moody-Westwood-Port Coquitlam riding
association says "James has effectively represented our riding both
in opposition, and now in government. And he has done so with
integrity and honesty, and he has the full support of local
Conservatives to continue representing us in Parliament."
Moore was first
elected on November 27th/2000 at the age of 24, re-elected on June
28th/2004, and on January 23rd/2006 he was the first person to be
elected federally to a third consecutive term in 41 years in his
community.
Concluded Moore,
"serving in Parliament has been the experience and honour of a
lifetime. I will always work as hard as possible towards a
better Canada, a stronger British Columbia, and the best
representation possible for our community."
