Moore Welcomes Premier Campbell's Transit Plan
PORT
MOODY
– Tri-Cities MP
James Moore today applauded the
transit
plan announced by Premier Gordon Campbell. "Premier Campbell's
announcement is focused, impressive and ambitious," says Moore.
"Our government has committed $33 billion through the Building
Canada Fund, one of the largest investments in infrastructure in
Canadian history, and we look forward to working with Premier
Campbell on B.C.'s infrastructure priorities."
On
November 6th, 2007
Prime Minister Stephen Harper and
Premier Gordon Campbell
signed the federal-provincial agreement under the Building
Canada Plan. British Columbia was the first province to sign on to
the new national infrastructure plan, which provides more funding,
over a longer period of time, to restore and upgrade Canada’s
transportation assets than any previous federal infrastructure
initiative.
"By
working together, focusing on priority projects, and making the
necessary financial investments, British Columbians are seeing real
results and improved transportation infrastructure," says Moore.
Citing projects such as the South Fraser Perimeter Road, the
investments in the Port of Prince Rupert, the Canada Line rapid
transit project, the new Pitt River Bridge, and others, Moore says
are evidence that the Federal Government and the Government of B.C.
are delivering for British Columbians.
"Premier Campbell's announcement today, coupled with the Federal
Government's Building Canada Plan and other initiatives, mean
effective action on B.C.'s infrastructure needs," says Moore.
