Moore Appointed to Public Works

OTTAWA - Today Port Moody-Westwood-Port Coquitlam Conservative MP James Moore was appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Works. "I am honoured to serve in this very important role on behalf of Prime Minister Harper and our new government," says Moore.

Moore's appointment comes under unique circumstances as the Minister of Public Works, Mr. Michael Fortier of Montreal, is not a sitting Member of Parliament. As a result, Moore will be acting on his behalf in the House of Commons, including answering questions in the daily Question Period and advancing legislation on behalf of the government.

In the last Parliament Moore served as the Public Works Critic for the Official Opposition. "These are exciting times for Canada and for our new Conservative government. I will proudly serve my constituents on the government side of the House in this challenging portfolio," says Moore.

Along with being sworn-in today as a Parliamentary Secretary, Moore was also officially sworn-in as the Member of Parliament for Port Moody-Westwood-Port Coquitlam.
