Re: "Tax problem is with the province & feds: mayor"
I read with
disappointment Mayor Trasolini’s recent letter in the Tri-City News.
At the May 23rd meeting I had with Mayor Trasolini and Port Moody
Council, Mayor Trasolini raised three issues of concern to him: the
BC Government's Port Property Tax Act, his hope that the BC
Government would not charge the PST on the city in the same way the
Federal Government has not charged the GST, and his hope for funding
for the Murray Clarke Connector. I have taken action on all three
of these issues in precisely the manner requested by Mayor Trasolini.
I have personally raised the issues of PST relief and the Port
Property Tax Act with our local BC Government MLA Iain Black and
with BC Premier Gordon Campbell. On the issue of the Murray Clarke
Connector, my offer still stands to advocate for resources from
TransLink, the province and the Federal Government once the city
decides to move on this project.
In his letter, Mayor Trasolini wrote, “Mr. Moore has yet to go to
bat on any of the matters council raised with him.” Exactly wrong.
I have kept my word.
